Our annual Georgia Milestones Assessment System testing window opens soon and we are making final preparations for a successful testing season. Our testing window begins April 11, 2018, and closes on April 20, 2018. As we finalize our plans for this Spring, we wanted to share some information with you.
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) has posted to its website a Parent’s Question and Answer flyer at Georgia Milestones Parent Question and Answer Brochure. This document will provide answers to questions you may have about Georgia Milestones.
We are also writing to share with you information about online test administration this Spring. For a number of years, the GaDOE has been offering online test administrations as part of the state’s student assessment program. The Georgia Milestones Assessment System will continue, and expand upon, the availability of online testing.
We are writing to share with you that the International Academy of Smyrna will, for the first time, be testing students online during our upcoming administration of the Georgia Milestones assessment. This year, we will begin our online testing experience with students in the fourth grade. The information below is provided to assist you and your student in becoming familiar with the features of online testing.
• A website, called Experience Online Testing Georgia, has been established to provide an opportunity for students to become familiar with the online testing platform. The website can be found at the link that follows: http://www.gaexperienceonline.com/. This practice site does not require a log-in and is available 7 days a week. Importantly, this practice site is not designed as a “practice test” to measure a student’s knowledge of course content and scores will not be generated. Again, it is intended to allow students to familiarize themselves with the online platform prior to testing.
• We will also be setting up practice sessions during the school day to provide students a similar opportunity to acquaint themselves with the online testing system.
• If your child is not a fourth grader who will be testing online, but will participate in GA Milestones testing (grades 3-6), he/she can still benefit from the online exposure to the assessment practice through the link provided above.
If you have questions about our upcoming spring test administrations for Georgia Milestones, please contact our testing coordinator, Katrina Brinker at email@example.com.
