About IIAS PTA
Dear IIAS Parents, Students, and Family Members,
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year! We have many activities and wonderful learning experiences planned for our children.
As we strive to promote healthy development in all aspects of each student's life, we are excited to announce that IIAS became a “We Can” school this year and both our school and PTA will be promoting healthy lifestyle programs for our children and families throughout the year as well as enhancing awareness for healthy living. The national education “We Can” program is designed to promote and give parents, caregivers, and communities a way to help children stay at a healthy weight and encourage healthy eating, increased physical activity, and reduced time sitting in front of the TV or computer screen. Look for information and “We Can” updates in your IIAS PTA e-newsletters.
Our PTA Membership Kick Off has now officially begun, and we invite each of you to join IIAS PTA today. As an IIAS PTA member, you may vote at PTA meetings, and you become an automatic member of the Georgia PTA and National PTA and receive benefits from each. Our theme this year is What’s in Your Bucket? as each of us will be filling our children’s buckets with positive impacts for academic achievements and healthy lifestyles. Your membership in the PTA will enable us to work together to provide opportunities to enhance our children’s education and growth.
Your PTA support will greatly benefit our IIAS students by providing enrichment materials for our education and reading programs, classrooms, health, and safety events, family and hospitality events, music and awards programs, cultural arts National PTA Reflection Program, field trips, and much more. Last year our PTA raised over $40,000 for school programs, of which $10,000 was spent on Curriculum books for our children. We thank our students’ parents and families for instilling the importance of learning and suporting our educational programs. We also applaud the fantastic work of our excellent teaching and support staff and especially our hard working and motivated students for these results.

IIAS PTA MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
A PTA membership provides many benefits to a card-carrying PTA member. If you are an IIAS PTA member, you are automatically a member of the Georgia PTA and the National PTA. Georgia PTA and Local Unit and Council PTAs throughout Georgia are working with local community and statewide businesses via Georgia PTA's Community Alliance Partner (CAP) network to offer community specific and statewide PTA Member Only Coupon Benefits, Smartkid Reward Certificates for Students who get A's and B's no C's (3's and 2's no 1's for elementary schools), and Teacher Appreciation Certificates for our teachers that do an outstanding job. VOLUNTEER HOURS
The school tracks volunteer hours via notebooks located in the front office. When volunteering, be sure to sign in and out. Single-parent families are required to contribute 15 volunteer hours per school year, while two-parent families must contribute 30 volunteer hours. This is a part of the Family Contract and if not completed can result in a family's student(s) being wait-listed for the next school year.
