2010 - 2011 Carpool at IIAS
NEW IIAS CARPOOL SYSTEM: EFFECTIVE MONDAY, AUGUST 23RD
CARPOOL TAGS: Each family has been issued a carpool number and provided with 2 carpool tags. Your child will be bringing tags home today. Please place the tag on the driver’s side of your windshield.
FRONT CARPOOL: Kindergarten thru 3rd grade with siblings in K-3rd.
REAR CARPOOL: 4th -8th grades and siblings in K-8th grade.
CARPOOL REMINDERS
- The front office will be closed during dismissal from 3:00 – 3:45pm.
- Morning carpool begins at 7:30 am and ends at 7:55 am. After 7:55 your must escort your child into the building. You do not need to sign your child in.
- School begins at 8:00 am. Students arriving after 8:00 must be escorted into the building and signed in. These procedures are not meant to inconvenience parents, but rather to ensure that students don’t miss instructional time.
- Afternoon carpool begins at 3:00 pm and ends at 3:45 pm.
- Every vehicle must have a carpool tag. You’ve been provided with two tags. If you carpool with another family you must also have the carpool tag for that family. Daycare/Child Care Providers must also have your child’s carpool tag. If you need additional tags please contact the front office and it will be sent home with your child.
- Only parents of “Walkers” will be allowed into the building during carpool (between 3 and 3:45). Walkers are those students who live in close proximity to school and walk to and from school or use public transportation. All “Walkers” have been identified in the carpool system.

CARPOOL TIMES
- Carpool Drop-off 7:30 a.m. until 7:55 a.m. If you are not in the carpool line by 7:55 a.m., please park your vehicle and walk your child inside.
- Carpool Pick-up 3:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. If you are not in the carpool line by 3:45 p.m., please park your vehicle and walk inside to pick-up your child.
FRONT VS. REAR CARPOOL GUIDELINES
- Front Parking Lot (K- 3rd grades, Single Riders & siblings in K - 3rd): Enter the parking area to join the queuing area for carpool. Vehicles should begin the carpool line along the curb in front of the school. Once the curb area is full, form 3 lanes in the parking lot. Children will enter/exit the vehicle from the passenger side.
- Rear Parking Lot (4th – 8th, Siblings in K - 8th & Carpool Partners): A single line of cars should approach the back of the school with the park on your right and the back of the school building on your left. Children will enter/exit the vehicle from the driver side.
CARPOOL GUIDELINES
- Everyone MUST utilize carpool. If your child is a walker, please notify the front office.
- Grades K – 3rd, and carpools with siblings/riders who are all K - 3rd, will load and unload at the front of the school. ie. you have a K and 3rd grader (no 4th - 8th).
- Grades 4 – 8, and siblings/riders who are K - 8 will load and unload at the rear of the school – ie. you have a K and 8th grader.
- Please have carpool tag visible during the entire carpool process.
- Only vehicles displaying official carpool tags (those provided by the school) will be allowed to pick-up students.
- Five (5) miles per hour in the carpool loading/unloading area.
- No Cell Phones in loading/unloading area.
- Do not let your child out of your car before pulling up to the loading/unloading area and instructed by a volunteer/staff
- Students can only be picked up or dropped off in the carpool designated area.
- Please remain in your vehicle.
- Have your child (ren) ready to unload when pulling to the curb.
- Put your vehicle in park when loading/unloading children.
- Please do not engage volunteers/teachers/principal in discussions in the carpool line.
- If additional time is needed to complete buckling up or extra TLC please pull into the parking lot.
- Changes in carpool arrangements must be conveyed to the school in writing (no emails).
- Emergency carpool changes can be made via telephone to the front office.
- Notify the front office of any special circumstances regarding the pick-up of your child (ren).
- Do not drop your child (ren) off prior to 7:30 a.m. otherwise you will be charged for Before Care.
- Children not picked up by 3:45 p.m. will be sent to the After School Program and you will be charged the program fee for that day.
